Located in the downtown district, the Columbia Museum of Art's world-class collection emphasizes European and American fine and decorative art dating from the 14th century to the present. Changing international exhibitions are scheduled throughout the year.
The South Carolina State Museum houses a large collection of permanent and temporary exhibits ranging from art, natural history, science and technology and cultural history, to name a few. All displays are aimed at exhibiting the history and culture of South Carolina. Art is not only contained in the building but is also spread throughout the grounds.
The South Carolina Justice Hall of Fame is dedicated to honoring officers in the criminal justice field. Included in the museum are exhibits relating to john Dillenger, known as Enemy #1 in 1933, and other exhibits related to the FBI, Secret Service and the Highway patrol. Admission is free of charge.
This museum is dedicated to preservation of South Carolina's Military history with special emphasis on the Confederation era. South Carolina's military history is portrayed through exhibitions of art, memorabilia and artifacts. The museum is open Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is open every first and third Saturdays of the month from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
